About:
May Ling is a games designer at EA Motive in Montreal, QC, Canada. UX and online gameplay systems fascinate her the most about games. Prior to that, she spent 7 years with Ubisoft at their studios in Singapore, Paris and Montreal; working on brands like TMNT, Ghost Recon, Far Cry and Watchdogs. On the side, she volunteers at Pixelles as a mentor to budding game developers.

Environment Art Creation For AAA Games

About:
Brian began his career in games at LucasArts on The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed II, before moving on to become Environment Art Lead for the Star Wars 1313 project at Lucasfilm. In 2013, Brian joined Naughty Dog in Santa Monica where he now works with some of the most talented designers and artists in video games, with credits including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Having worked in the games industry for more than 10 years, he has specialized skills in modeling, texturing, surfacing, and lighting, with highly refined skills in ZBrush, Maya, 3ds Max, Unreal Engine, World Machine and photogrammetry.


Workshop content:
We are going to go over advanced techniques such as using photogrammetry, Unreal and Substance painter to create an environment from concept to finished scene.
- Introduction on creating environment art for AAA games
- The process of creating an environment from blockmesh to final
- Using advanced techniques with a focus on photogrammetry
- Live demo in Unreal

Concept Art Design Workshop

Speaker: Teo Yong Jin, Senior Concept Artist, Motive EA Montreal
About:
Yong Jin currently at Motive as a Senior Concept artist, working on Star Wars Battlefront 2. Before Motive, he was working at Ubisoft, focusing on concept, art direction duties, texture work and also lighting assisting in a couple of their top franchise (Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia). His career as a game maker began a long time ago in 2001 for a Malaysian game company called Gamebrains sdn. bhd. before starting his own little studio later with a couple of my friends called Big Bad Robots.


He always fascinated by the concept that art is a communication tool and the game as the product and my canvas. Graduated with a degree in film and animation, he always excited about using visual art creatively to get an idea out.

- Design ideas and solutions
