01 Oct Workshop 2: A Frame In Game-Play Animation
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
A workshop in which participants will be involved in creating essential move sets for a playable character in a game. You will have the opportunity to understand the process and pipeline for game development – from creating the animation until exporting and integrating it into the game engine!
THONG VIE EIK
Animating professionally for more than 3 years in Passion Republic, Vie Eik has experience working with both cinematic and gameplay animation. With titles such as Gears of War 4 and World of Demons, he is able to adapt to different styles of animation.
Besides animation, Vie Eik sparked interest in the workings of Unreal Engine. This lead him to self-learn the engine which helped him to better understand gameplay animation.
Julian On is a 7 year Senior 3D animator with a wide range of animation expertise from from humanoid characters to creatures.
He started his career in Giggle Garage, a local animation studio. Animating children’s cartoons such as Origanimals, Boeing the Play Ranger, Julian then moved on to Passion Republic where he mainly focuses on in-game animation. His involvement in the project ranges from AAA titles to mobile games; working on titles such as Gears of War 4, Shadow of the Beast, World of Demons, just to name a few.
Currently Julian is leading a group of talented animators in an upcoming triple-A project.
CHEONG TEIK MUN
Teik Mun has been in the industry for 7 and a half years. He has been involved in international AAA game projects hailing from Japan, Canada and the United States. Notable titles such as Gears of War 4, Shadow Of the Beast and World of Demons are just some examples of projects he has delved in.
Previously he has worked on local TV commercials but these days he mainly focuses on Game Cinematic and In Game Animations.
Currently Teik Mun is a Lead Animator at Passion Republic, guiding project leads and setting the team’s direction. He also shares his experience and knowledge through teaching animation in an art college for 4 years during weekends.

- Participants will need to have at least a basic level of understanding of Maya, Motion Builder and Animation principles
- If Participants are not familiar with Maya or Motion Builder Software – they are encourage to learn the basics before joining the workshop.
- Unreal Engine knowledge (optional)
- Participants will need to bring their own Laptop installed with the required animation software (Autodesk Maya 2017 or newer and Motion Builder 2017 or newer, Unreal Engine Ver. 4.19 is optional)
