A 36-hour game jam organized by LEVEL UP KL where game developers from all over the South East Asia region work together to create games in a collaborative environment based on a theme!

All participants from outside Malaysia are eligible for travel allowance reimbursement up to RM300 by providing receipt of payment for travel transportation (e.g. flight ticket and etc).

Rules & Regulations


By applying to the SEA Game Jam, you confirm that you have read and agree to the official rules and terms, including the use of your name and country of origin information for the purpose of LEVEL UP KL 2018 and SEA Game Jam.



The SEA Game Jam is open to all individual game developers from South East Asia region. All participations is under individual capacity without any representation of any legal entity related to the participant such as companies, institutions, organizations and etc.



Applications can be made through the official website via registration link below by 11.59pm (GMT+8) on 7th October 2018.



The selection process will be through an selection panel of approximately three (3) to seven (7) jurors appointed by the organizer. Members of the selection panel may include independent and professional game developers, notable video game journalists, and other individuals familiar with video game design, and will be chosen for their professional specialization or other suitability for the selection process.

Teams will be formed through random selection to create a good mixture of participants from different countries. Each team will have balance number of game designer, game artist and game programmers with the size of 4 persons per team.



All submission must be made before the deadline as per announce through event briefing.



As between the organizer and the Participant, the Participant has and retains all intellectual and proprietary rights in and to the entry that Participant had at time of submission of the entry and Participant’s agreement and acceptance SEA Game Jam Terms and Conditions. Without limiting the Terms and Conditions of the SEA Game Jam, as a condition of entry, Participant grants the organizer a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publicly perform, publicly display and create a derivative work from, any entry in whole or in part that Participant submits to this SEA Game Jam for the purposes of marketing and promotion of the event and to allow the organizer to test and evaluate the entry for judging evaluation and prize award verification.



The organizer reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Game Jam in its sole and absolute discretion if the Game Jam becomes technically corrupted or is not capable of being run as planned, including infections by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of organizer that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Game Jam. In such event, organizer will post notice at the official website and will implement an alternate means for awarding all prizes.



By entering the Game Jam, each participant releases and holds harmless organizer, its parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees from any and all responsibility or liability arising out of or relating to:

(i) any personal injury, death, property (including computer) damage, or other loss or claim of any kind arising from or in connection with any violation of these Official Rules; the Game Jam; the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize; or any travel required by the Game Jam;

(ii) any entry or other materials that have been tampered with, that are misdirected, incomplete, incorrect, non-conforming, corrupt, lost, late, or ineligible, or, with respect to mail-in entries or materials, that are sent postage due; and

(iii) computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, hardware, software, or other technical malfunctions or failures; garbled or jumbled transmissions; Internet or website inaccessibility or delays; printing or typographical errors in any Game Jam materials; or any other technical or human errors occurring in connection with the Game Jam.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: I’m from outside South East Asia but holding a working permit in one of the South East Asia countries. May I enter the SEA Game Jam?

A: Yes.

Q: If I’m selected to participate in SEA Game Jam during Level UP KL 2017, do I have to bring my own computer or devices/console/handheld too?

A: Yes. The organizer will provide power sockets and internet connections for all participants. However you will need to bring your own PC, console, or any other devices required.

Q: Do the organizer provide accommodation, food and drinks?

A: The organizer will provide each participants with one Participation Kit which includes one sleeping bag and one limited edition t-shirt. There will be no accommodation provided, but there will be a sleeping area/space provided at the game jam site. There will be a free flow supply of foods and drinks through the event.

Q: What systems must the submitted game run on?

A: The SEA Game Jam officially supports any platform – PC, console, web, mobile, etc. etc. Participants are required to bring their own necessary hardware to be able to run/execute their game for the judging process.

Q: How does the SEA Game Jam judging process operate?

A: The SEA Game Jam judging process will be through an judging panel of approximately three (3) to seven (7) jurors appointed by the organizer. Members of the selection panel may include independent and professional game developers, notable video game journalists, and other individuals familiar with video game design, and will be chosen for their professional specialization or other suitability for the judging process. All results are final and within jurisdiction of the organizer.
